Nokia 9.1 PureView may launch in Q2 2020 with waterfall display
Nokia 9 PureView successor is now tipped to launch in Q2 2020.
A few days ago, alleged renders of Nokia 9.1 PureView were spotted showing off a new design language that includes a waterfall display. It was previously rumoured that the Nokia 9.1 PureView could launch by the end of this year or at MWC 2020 in February. According to a new tip, however, the Nokia 9.1 PureView launch may take place only in Q2 2020. This means the Nokia 9 successor will launch somewhere between April and June.
The latest source of information is Nokia Anew, which tweeted in reply to a query on the Nokia 9.1 PureView's launch date. The Nokia tipster account claims the Nokia 9.1 PureView will launch in Q2 2020. There is no way to confirm the launch timeline of the Nokia 9.1 PureView just yet, so you should take this leak with a pinch of salt.
HMD Global is yet to reveal that it is working on a Nokia 9 PureView successor. Renders posted online a few days ago showed a possible Nokia flagship with a waterfall display. This means the display curves dramatically on the sides to offer a 100 per screen screen ratio as seen on the Mate 30 Pro and Vivo Nex 3.
Additionally, the Nokia 9.1 PureView may feature a penta camera setup on the back housed inside a raised circular camera module, similar to the Nokia 7.2 and 6.2. We don't know much about the camera sensors yet, but we expect to see a variety of lenses this time around such as a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. Renders also suggest a ToF (Time of Flight) camera on board.
With the Nokia 9.1 PureView now expected in Q2 2020, it seems that HMD Global will not launch a new flagship phone this year. We do expect to see the Nokia 8.2 to launch before 2019 ends with a powerful Snapdragon 700-series.
