Playing Without Break, Virat Kohli Will Skip Bangladesh T20 Series, Rohit Sharma Likely To Lead
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is likely to skip the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh as he has been playing without a break since the ODIs against Australia in March.
Kohli, who has been in prolific form, unsurprisingly, throughout the year has been playing non stop cricket for seven months now. The workload management has been stressed upon during his reign, it is been reported that the Indian captain will miss the coming series as a result.
The BCCI sources have touched upon the subject and confirmed the same.
"Yes, he will be skipping the T20 series as he has been playing non-stop and needs a break considering that he has been part of the Australia series, the IPL, the World Cup, the tour of West Indies and now the series against South Africa."
"Managing the workload of the players, especially those playing all formats, is something that is a priority with this team to ensure that the players are fresh and on the top of their game at all times," the source told IANS.
The squad for the Bangladesh series will be picked on October 24, and Rohit Sharma is the likely candidate to be handed over the captaincy in Kohl's absence.
It will also be the first time the squad will be announced under Sourav Ganguly's tenure.
India-Bangladesh T-20 series begins on November 3rd.
